Heart Tales Bookmark

The world needs more love. People are so self involved these days that they forget about those around them. One of God’s most important commandments is love your neighbor as yourself. You’re also supposed to love your enemies. If there were more love, there would be less hate. I designed a cute heart bookmark for you to give to those you love. :)  The heart is quite simple, well… truly, the entire bookmark is simple to make but it can definitely warm someone’s heart when given. They are perfect for Bibles, novels or any other book. I know in this age less people are reading actual books but some of us are still old fashioned and prefer print and paper to electronics. ;)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Materials Needed:

Small amount of WW Yarn
US “E” Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle

ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
sl st = slip stitch
fo =  fasten off

Different size hooks will produce different size hearts / bookmarks. Adjust bookmark tail to your hook size if needed.

In magic circle:

Heart:
3 hdc, 1 dc, 5 tr, sl st inside ring, 5 tr, 1 dc, 3 hdc, <now, slowly close the magic ring. do it slowly as it will be tight>,  join by sl st to 1st hdc.  Do not cut yarn… continue with bookmark:

Bookmark:
ch 70, 3 sc in 2nd ch st from hook, 3 sc in next 14 ch st, sl st to next ch st. fo.

Using yarn needle, draw yarn tail down through center of curly bookmark tail to conceal. Use yarn needle to hide yarn tail from magic ring. Voila! you are finished with your Heart Tales Bookmark. :)

    Hi Stephanie,

    Thank you so much for sharing. This is so cute. My heart came out fine but the other end does not look like yours. Mine looks like a tail. If I understand it is 3 sc in 14 consecutive chains.

    I have an E hook, my yarn is not 10 ply.

    Thank you,
    Linda
